Simple Vanilla Chai Oatmeal

Here is a simple oatmeal recipe that screams holiday flavours! It literally took 5 minutes to make so no excuses! This is my last week of classes and then its exam time, so I’m all for simple recipes with little thinking. Switch up your normal oatmeal routine!


Yield: one serving



  • 1/2 c gluten-free oats
  • 3/4 c water
  • 2 tbsp flax meal
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves


  • golden berries
  • dried cherries
  • almonds
  • pecans
  • unsweetened applesauce


  1. Quick version: Combine all the ingredients in a microwave safe bowl, stir, and cook for 1 minute 30 seconds
  2. Longer version: Boil water in a kettle or on the stove. Combine all the ingredients in a glass bowl. Pour 3/4c boiling water into the oat mixture. Mix well
  3. Add toppings
